How Ukrainians see their cities?

According to results of the researches conducted in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnepropetrivsk, Donetsk and Odessa the vast majority of locals likes to live in their cities.
The biggest number of satisfied residents by living in the native town is among residents of Kharkiv (90%), Odessa, Lviv and Kiev. The least is among citizens of Dnepropetrivsk (80%) and Donetsk (78%), including that who liked living is only a third.

For the young people the native and favourite city is the center of good rest with a large number of cafe and coffee houses, beautiful women and interesting sports life.
Interesting cultural life, opportunities for work and the low cost of life are noted by inhabitants of middle age.
Spirituality and religiousness, richness of history and monuments and also purity, cleanliness and a cosiness in hometowns are important for the senior generation.

Generally respondents consider that affairs in their cities go in the right direction. Inhabitants of Donetsk and Odessa, and also Kharkiv and Lviv are more sure of it. The wrong course of affairs is noted mainly by inhabitants of Kyiv, and in Dnepropetrivsk the third didn’t decide.
At the same time, affairs in Ukraine, according to respondents, develop mainly in the wrong direction. It is more considered in Odessa and Kyiv. Inhabitants of Donetsk and Kharkiv are more optimistic.

Inhabitants of all cities except Kyiv mainly positively estimate the last changes in the city. Thus the greatest optimists are Kharkiv and Lviv. Moreover nearly a third of inhabitants of Kiev negatively estimated changes which happened (much more than in other cities).
The positive changes within the next year are more expected by inhabitants of Kharkiv and Dnepropetrivsk. The leader of negative expectations is Kiev. The citizens of Odessa and Donetsk usually don't expect any changes.
According to the majority of respondents, the brightest leading cities are Kharkiv (78%) and Kyiv (74%). Only 12% subsumed their cities to the «middles» (comparing to the other regional centers of Ukraine).
More modestly estimated the leadership of the cities the inhabitants of Donetsk (61%), Odessa (55%) and Dnepropetrovsk (55%). Nearly a third subsumed their cities to the «middles».
The residents of Lviv the most modestly estimated positions of the city: nearly a half subsumed the city to the leaders, about 40% to the «middles».

The target audience of the research: the population of Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Odesa aged from 18 and older. Optional quantity: 800 respondents in each city. The methods of investigation: personal formalized interview according to the questionnaire (face to face). Measure of inaccuracy: less than 3.5%. The period of completion: September – November 2013
