Dynamics of patriotic moods

According to results of the survey conducted by the sociological group "Rating", 86% of the respondents consider themselves like patriots of their country. At the same time, 50% uniquely identify themselves as patriots, another 36% - rather yes than no. Only 6% of surveyed don’t consider themselves like patriots, 8% - undecided.

During the last year, amount of people who consider themselves like patriots raised from 81% to 86%, comparatively with 2010 year - from 76% to 86%.

Overall, 76% of surveyed would support the proclamation of independence of Ukraine, if they had such choice. Simultaneously, 12% - wouldn’t support, also 12% - undecided. For the last year the number of supporters of the proclamation of independence of Ukraine has increased significantly (from 61% to 76%), while almost half of its opponents has reduced.

Absolute majority of the respondents (64%) has answered to themselves the question “Who am I?” - citizen of Ukraine. Half as much described themselves like citizens of their region, city, village (30%). 21% would say – own nationality, 17% would simply say “a human”.  8% consider themselves Europeans; the same amount would say their family role. 4% of surveyed describe themselves like Soviet people, as much – like citizen of the world. 3% of the respondents would say their profession, as much – their religious beliefs.

Like an object of pride for their country, their people, firstly considered a place where born and grown up (35%); land, territory where living (35%); country (29%); great people of their nationality (28%). Diligence, the ability to manage 26%, the language of the nation - 23%, their past, history - 22%, spiritual qualities of people - 21%, songs, holidays, customs - 19%.

A little less cause pride a flag, emblem, anthem (14%); nature and spirituality, religion of nation (14%), ancestral graves and memories of them (12%), literature, art (8%), winnings athletes of our country (6%), the military power of the state (2%) .

It’s important, that during the last years there has being changes in comprehension of what is the object of pride for the country, nation. In particular, Ukrainians began to feel more pride for their land, the territory which they live; their country; language of the nation; flag, emblem and anthem. Instead, less considered as an object of pride:  nature; songs, holidays, customs, winnings athletes of a country.

The target audience of the research: the population of Ukraine aged from 18 and older.The sample is representative by age, gender, region and type of settlement. Optional quantity: 2000 respondents. Personal formalized interview (face to face). Margin of error is less than 2.2%. The period of completion: 17-24 of July 2014
