MONITORING OF SOCIAL MOODS OF UKRAINIANS (6-10 SEPTEMBER 2019)

 • According to the survey carried out by the Sociological Group Rating on September 6-10, 2019, 55% of the respondents believe the things in Ukraine are heading in the right direction, 18% think they are heading in the wrong direction, 26% have not decided on this issue. The best estimates of the country’s development direction were recorded in the West and South, relatively worse - in the Center and East. Youth and the voters of "Sluha Narodu" remain more optimistic. Instead, comparatively higher pessimism is observed among those eldest and the sympathizers of “European Solidarity” and “Opposition Platform – Za Zhyttia”.

 
71% of the polled are satisfied with the activities of President of Ukraine V.Zelensky, while 11% share the opposite opinion, 18% have not decided on their attitude. Compared to July of this year, the level of approval of the President’s activities has increased almost one and a half times.
 
29% approve the performance of the Government Head O.Honcharuk; on the other hand, 11% reveal disapproval. Two-thirds are not yet able to assess the activities of the new Prime Minister. 
 
39% of the respondents are satisfied with the activities of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada, 16% are dissatisfied with it. 45% were unable to answer.
 
The vast majority of the respondents (over 90%) support the initiatives for early termination of the MP’s authorities for absenteeism, reduction of the MPs number from 450 to 300, and removal of parliamentary immunity.
 
More than 70% support providing Ukrainian citizens with legislative initiative, expanding the authorities of the President to appoint the heads of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), as well as increasing the number of human rights ombudsmen. About two-thirds are in favor of enshrining in the Constitution such provisions as MPs’ proportional election system and legal monopoly abolition.
 
Audience: residents of Ukraine aged 18 and older. The sample is representative in terms of age, gender, region, and settlement type. Total sample: 2500 respondents. Personal formalized interview (face-to-face). The margin of error does not exceed 2.0%. Period of the survey: 6-10 September, 2019.
